For Poseidon First Stages
The SS-IP makes the best better!
For years Poseidon regulators have been considered to be the best regulators by many cave and wreck divers. The SS-IP is a 316 Stainless Steel direct replacement for the brass inlet on a Poseidon first stage.
Why a Stainless Steel inlet pipe?
The inlet pipe is the one mechanical link between the first stage and the tank. It is the weak link in the chain. Whether you're cave diving, wreck diving, or in any other overhead environment, the potential exists for your equipment to come in contact with the ceiling. The object that will be the first to hit (and receive the greatest impact) will be your first stage. Of course good buoyancy skills should prevent this, but it can happen to anyone -- even an expert. Furthermore, tanks have been known to tip over and fall, regardless of who owns them.
A corollary of Murphy's Law states that "An object will fall in a way that it will do the most damage." To put it politely -- Defeat Murphy!
Frequently Asked Questions
How is it different from the original?
The Sartek inlet pipe is made from 316 stainless steel, which is much tougher and a lot less likely to break than chrome plated brass.
Why would I need this?
If you dive on a charter boat, use a DPV, or dive in an overhead environment, this product is for you. As stated in a corollary of Murphy's Law, an object will fall in a way that it will do the most damage. If your tanks were to fall over and land on the first stage, your first stages could be sheered off, ruining your dive day. If you hit something in a cave or a wreck it could ruin the rest of your life. The SS-IP Inlet pipe makes the connection in the first stage much stronger. We have taken a great regulator and made it even better.
